Artists from various countries and corners of the world will be participating. </p> <p>Estonia is one of the invited countries and will present an Exhibition of Contemporary Textile Art with 10 artists and curated by the Estonian Textile Artists´ Union.</p> Wed, 02 Jul 2014 07:46:09 GMT Portugal is contributing to the protection of Estonian airspace <p>In meeting with Portuguese Foreign Minister Rui Machete, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said that the Portuguese contribution to the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Air Policing Mission is much needed and appreciated.</p><p>Portugal is sending its planes to participate in the protection of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian airspace from September until the end of summer 2016. Paet stated that Portugal is also considering added contributions. “It is important that allies from different European regions participate in the defence of our airspace. Now that TAP Portugal has made us a Christmas gift in announcing the opening of the new route we can say it out too that after long negotiations we reached an agreement with TAP Portugal under which Lisbon-Tallinn flights will start in summer," Tallinn Airport board member Erik Sakkov said.</P> <P>He added that the exact launch date will be announced along with the flight plan by the carrier in the coming few days.</P> <P>The board member of Tallinn Airport described the opening of the new route as a&nbsp;long-awaited opportunity representing a significant investment in the Estonian economy through bringing tourists here and expanding opportunities for trade and exports for Estonian businesses on the South American market.</P> <P>Sakkov said the addition of TAP Portugal to the pool of airlines serving flights to Tallinn would open up the possibility for people here to reach the Azores, Madeira, Cabo Verde, Brazil and many other interesting destinations changing plane only once. It will also be significantly easier to fly to the Football World Cup from Estonia.</P> <P>At 3,314 kilometers, the flight to Lisbon is the longest regular flight ever operated out of Tallinn. Examples of good cooperation between Estonia and Portugal include Estonia’s special mission in Brazil, which is initially located in the rooms of the Portuguese Embassy in the capital, and the activities of Portuguese diplomats who are working in the Estonian embassies in Vilnius and Astana.</P> <P>At yesterday’s meeting, Estonian Ambassador Rundu and Portuguese President Silva found that in the future the two countries could further intensify economic relations.</P> <P>President Silva was interested in the developments of Estonian economy.
