Estonian project Let’s Do It is organizing World Cleanup Day

29.03.2016

The team of Let’s Do It! World (www.letsdoitworld.org) is asking for everyone´s help to organize a massive World Cleanup Day. On September 8, 2018, World Cleanup Day, people in 150 countries will stand up against the global waste problem, cleaning up trash and creating the biggest positive civic action the world has seen.

Let’s Do It! is a civil society movement which was born in 2008, when 50,000 people from Estonia cleaned up the entire country’s rubbish in only five hours (see a short video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5GryIDl0qY).

The initiative received international attention and word quickly to Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, among other countries. The collective action day, which originated from the small country of Estonia grew into an international civil action movement which has already involved almost 14 million participants.

Let´s Do It! asks for your help and support spreading this ambitious action around the world.

Let´s Do It! has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to help find and train 150 capable leaders who would accept the challenge of becoming a nationwide cleanup campaign leader in their own countries.

What do we expect from you?

Please make your donation already today and help to make history together with us. You can donate here: http://igg.me/at/worldcleanupday

How do we intend to make it all happen?

The first step is to find charismatic and experienced leaders in 150 countries. They will build teams in their home countries and mobilize the people for a massive cleanup with the aim to clean up the entire country in just one day – on the 8th of September 2018. We are crowdfunding to find and train these leaders.

The second step is to map all the garbage in the world using modern technologies and engage a massive amount of volunteers – (a feat that no one has ever endeavored before!

The third step is to invite the whole world to come out and clean it all up in one day on the 8th of September 2018.

The fourth step, to bring together experts and organizations working in the field of environment and sustainable solutions and develop a plan to keep our planet clean.

We have grown from Estonias 50 000 people into a worldwide civic movement in just a few years. 14 million people have been cleaning up half a million tons of illegal waste together with us. Using this experience, we are now ready to aim much higher.

Most importantly, we need to act now, because the global trash problem is affecting us all – polluting water, soil, air and harming animals and people.

Lets make a real difference in the lives of all the worlds citizens and the future of our planet!
